McCoy Russell was happy to celebrate Administrative Professionals’ Day. The firm held an event in the firm’s new collaboration work-space in Portland’s Pearl District where employees could show their appreciation for the amazing and talented administrative professionals that are a core part of McCoy Russell’s success. We are excited to celebrate our wonderful administrative professionals, thanking them for their dedication to our client’s invaluable intellectual property portfolios.
McCoy Russell is proud to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day. This year’s theme is IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future.
World Intellectual Property Day 2022 is an opportunity for young people to find out how IP rights can support their goals, help transform their ideas into reality, generate income, create jobs and make a positive impact on the world around them. With IP rights, young people have access to some of the key tools they need to advance their ambitions.

This year’s Earth Day theme is “Invest In Our Planet”. As a cutting-edge IP firm, McCoy Russell has a strong practice in the Green Technology space, including helping our clients protect innovations in areas such as reducing vehicle emissions, improving batteries to enable electrification, improving energy storage in the grid, reducing volatile organic compounds in footwear and apparel, and many more.
We want to carry the theme of reducing the environmental impact taking action through to our work. We want to utilize our expertise to not only help our clients develop a strategic IP portfolio, but advance businesses that will make an impact on our environment – we are based in Oregon after all!
McCoy Russell has an active and highly regarded appeal practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm has handled more than 300 PTAB appeals and has a win rate of over 85%, well above the national average.
However, many applicants cannot afford the costs of an appeal and end of abandoning their valuable intellectual property. As part of McCoy Russell’s program to give back to the community, the firm is volunteering to assist financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses in a new program specifically directed to appeals at the USPTO. Inventors and small businesses that meet certain financial thresholds and other criteria may be eligible to utilize expert appeal representation. Please see the USPTO’s PTAB Patent Pro Bono Program (https://www.uspto.gov/patents/basics/using-legal-services/pro-bono/patent-pro-bono-program#:~:text=The%20Patent%20Pro%20Bono%20Program,purpose%20of%20securing%20patent%20protection.).
McCoy Russell congratulates Supervisor Hannah Cooney-Voloshinov and her 2004 state championship dance team (the “Upbeats”) on their recent induction into the Marshfield High Athletic Hall of Fame.
The Upbeats were selected first by 8 of the 9 state judges and they earned an SQS score of 89. This score is the highest score ever earned by a Marshfield Dance Team and one of the three top scores in the State of Oregon, all divisions, for 2004.
